How-to create a Windows 10 Bootable USB Media from GNU+Linux



This guide works with Windows 7,8 & 10 in Legacy Bios & UEFI


Ifound a Bug with WoeUSB Software, it only works with the Terminal.





1- Download the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft:

2- Install WoeUSB Software:





From Ubuntu Based Distros:





sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8


sudo apt update


sudo apt install woeusb





OR you can get the .DEB File from here:


http://ppa.launchpad.net/nilarimogard/webupd8/ubuntu/pool/main/w/woeusb/





OTHER DISTROS:





https://github.com/slacka/WoeUSB





3- Format the Pen Drive to NTFS File System. It has to be NTFS & 8GB USB Flash Drive.





4- Using WoeUSB to create bootable Windows 10





Browse to the downloaded Windows 10 ISO file and select the USB drive on


which you want to install it. Just click on Install to begin the process.





5: Using Windows 10 bootable USB


Once the bootable USB is ready, restart your system. At boot time,


press F2 or F10 or F12 repeatedly to go to the boot settings. In here, select to boot from USB





FROM THE TERMINAL:


How-to create the Windows 10 USB Media from the the Terminal using WoeUSB:





Log as root:





sudo su





1- To show the drives connected on the Computer:





lsblk





2- to unmount the USB Flash Drive (in my coomputer is SDB)





umount /dev/sdb1





3- Run woeusb in the Terminal:





woeusb --device Win10_1709_BrazilianPortuguese_x64.iso /dev/sdb
